WHO WE ARE

Wheelchair tennis was introduced to Ottawa in 1985 as an initiative of the Chairperson of the Recreation Development Committee of the Canadian Tennis Association with the Ottawa Athletic Club. The legacy of this effort was a successful wheelchair tennis program run by local leaders from both the tennis and disabled community. It quickly morphed into an organization that offered tennis and table tennis programming.

The National Capital Wheelchair Tennis Association (NCWTA) is currently a community-based organization committed to overseeing the development of wheelchair tennis and table tennis for persons with mobility impairments within the Ottawa region. We assist para athletes to reach their highest potential through advocacy, education, fundraising and the direct provision of wheelchair tennis and table tennis support programs for recreational and competitive activities.

WHAT WE DO

1. Weekly table tennis sessions at various venues in Ottawa.

2. Weekly tennis clinics for adult/youth wheelchair participants conducted by tennis professionals at the Ottawa Athletic Club

Competitive players travel to regional, national, and international tournaments.

We also lend or provide racquets and sport wheelchairs for the Para Sports of Wheelchair Tennis and Para Table Tennis.
